This pattern gives instructions for two designs, both of which are simple, pretty, and easy to knit.

The designs are worked from the top down and are identical on the first part of the yoke, whereafter the pattern of the two differs.

Finished measurements:

Sizes: Newborn (1) 3 (6) 9 (12) 18 (24) 36 mths.
Chest: Approx. 44 (46) 50 (52) 56 (62) 64 (66) 69 cm.
Body length under sleeve: Approx. 15 (16.5) 18.5 (20) 22 (23) 25 (26) 27 cm.

Children and especially babies come in many sizes, so choose the size after the chilld’s measurements rather than age. Size newborn has been constructed with a 3500 g baby in mind. If you expect a bigger child, it is recommended to knit a 1 or 3 month size.

The design has a normal fit with space for a thin bodystocking or shirt underneath. The length of sleeves and body can easily be adjusted.

Suggested yarn and yardage:

Both variations are knit in Valmue, 40% Alpaca and 60% wool from Tante Grøn. Yardage 130 m / 50 g. 2 (2) 3 (3) 4 (5) 5 (6) 7 skeins.

Suggested needle size:
Circular needle size 3.0 mm, 40 or 60 cm, for rib and edges. Circular needle size 4.0 mm, 60 cm, for the rest.
Double pointed needles size 3.0 mm, 15 cm for cuffs.

Gauge:
23 sts and 42 rows in garter stitch on size 4.0 mm needle = 10 x 10 cm. 21.5 sts and 39 rows in stitch pattern on size 4.0 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm.

Notions:

Between 5 and 7 buttons, 13 mm, 6 markers, leftover yarn or holder for placing stitches on hold.
